New Marvel Legends & Star Wars Action Figures Revealed At NYCC

New York Comic-Con 2016 is in full swing, and outside of attending the biggest film and TV panels, attendees will be looking to see what merchandise they’ll be able to purchase from their favorite properties. Geek-friendly franchises like Marvel, DC, and Star Wars have never been more popular, which means there are plenty of tie-in products available featuring fan-favorite characters.

Hasbro, of course, is one the leading toy companies in the world and have a license to design products for both Marvel and Star Wars. In regards to the latter, last month’s Rogue Friday event saw the release of the first wave of items for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, including a new action figure line (among other things). Hasbro had their own panel at NYCC, where they took the time to showcase some upcoming products for Marvel Legends, Star Wars 3.75 inch figures, the Star Wars Black Series, and the Star Wars Galactic Heroes.

For those not in the know, Marvel Legends is a special 6-inch series that’s based on all of Marvel Comics – not just the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This explains why individuals such as Wolverine and Shatterstar are receiving this treatment. You can look at the gallery below to see the four new additions, which also include Spider-Man villains Sandman and Shocker. The timing couldn’t be better, since Logan comes out next spring and Shocker will make an appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Moving on to the galaxy far, far away, Rogue One was obviously the point of emphasis as that is the most recent film coming up on Lucasfilm’s slate. A number of action figures were unveiled, including Jyn Erso in her Imperial disguise, Bodhi Rook, Chirrut Îmwe, and a two-pack featuring Baze Malbus and a stormtrooper. Fans also got a good look at the Mon Calamari Admiral Raddus, one of the many new faces from the spinoff. We’ve assembled the new Star Wars toys in the below gallery:

It’s interesting to note that Hasbro has officially classified both the Darth Vader 3.75 inch and the Black Series 6 inch figures as Episode IV, even though the iconic villain will be in Rogue One. Of course, there are only so many ways to make a Darth Vader toy, so it’s not as if collectors are missing out on a possible variant with a new costume. And chances are, Vader’s look from A New Hope (which includes the tinted red eyes) will be close or identical to Rogue One, since the prequel allegedly ends just moments from the beginning of the original film.

The release dates for these toys are unknown, but viewers are most likely already saving their money for whenever they hit store shelves. In particular, the youngsters out there will want to get as many as they can get their hands on so they can create their own adventures with characters from the comics and films. There’s something for everyone in these collections, and they’ll surely sell well.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016, followed by Star Wars: Episode VIII on December 15, 2017, the Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film on May 25, 2018, Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019, and the third Star Wars Anthology film in 2020.
