Spider-Man: Homecoming Stars Visit Children’s Hospital
For any actor joining a major franchise, the majority of the focus they get is relegated to what they said about an upcoming project, if they will continue to appear in said franchises, or other movie-related questions. This can sometimes lead to actors’ more generous and kind acts going unnoticed by many, despite their large following and popularity. One of the breakout stars of 2016 is Tom Holland thanks to his brief but memorable role in Captain America: Civil War as Spider-Man. His performance has generated a ton of excitement for his future appearances, especially his first solo film Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Holland has so far continued to stay in the spotlight throughout the filming of Homecoming, and now everybody is wondering how long he will play the character or what is the next great thing he is going to do on screen. While we may have to wait to find out the answers to those questions, Holland is being a true superhero in real life as well.
Holland’s co-star Zendaya (who is not Mary Jane) shared a video on Instagram of her, Holland, and fellow cast member Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds) visiting a children’s hospital today in New York. Included in the video is Holland in full costume as Spider-Man heading into the room of one child staying at the hospital. Despite Holland’s efforts, the kid wearing a Batman t-shirt tells him directly to his face that Batman is still a better character. Regardless, Holland is putting in the effort to embrace his superhero identity to bring joy to those around him.
I think we have worlds best real life Spider-Man….an absolutely beautiful day at @nyphospital with two of my favorite people @tomholland2013 @lifeisaloha @lollipoptheater #PooPoo
Holland is not the first celebrity to visit a hospital or do anything good in the public eye, but this is exactly the sort of thing that he should be doing and it is great to see him embrace it at a young age. While he is already a rising star, Holland is only 20 years old and has had the role for just over a year.
This is not the first time Holland has used his super suit to cheer up those who may need it, either. He visited another children’s hospital in full costume earlier this year, and his continued efforts to do so further show that Marvel and Sony made a great call in casting him. The fact that he is doing this in Spider-Man’s backyard as well just adds another layer to the selfless act. Hopefully he will continue to do similar visits to those in need and use his newfound fame to help others, making him a superhero both on and off screen.
