Jennifer Lawrence ‘Would Love’ Mystique to Join Guardians of the Galaxy

While former Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt is still just beginning to settle in for a long haul as the Marvel Comics’ superhero Star Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, his co-star Jennifer Lawrence is in the process of winding down her turn as the similarly Marvel comics-based character Mystique in the X-Men film. Lawrence has been fairly open about the physical difficulties that the Mystique character’s blue-skinned full body makeup appliances pose, throughout her time working on the franchise.

Reports have continue to circulate that Lawrence may yet reprise her role as Mystique despite her suggestions otherwise – possibly in a future X-Men film that reunites her with her X-Men: First Class trilogy costars, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy. Lawrence, for her own part, has now revealed that she’d be open to reprising the role – if she could join her Passengers costar Pratt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The unexpected declaration (clearly intended as a moment of levity during an interview) came during a joint press interview with Pratt for MTV International, during the pair’s promotional tour for the upcoming theatrical release of Passengers. When asked if she would be open to a cameo in her costar’s upcoming Guardians of The Galaxy sequel, Lawrence answered thusly:

“I would love to. I don’t even know – I would choose that over doing another X-Men movie! [Laughs] I won’t be Mystique in the X-Men movies, but I would love to be Mystique in Guardians of The Galaxy. I wonder if they can do that?”
